Chelsea’s POV-

I walked into West town, carrying a small bag of gold in my hand. My poor cow had no fodder left and if she didn’t eat she would starve and die, and I hated it when animals die, epically if they died because of me. I opened the door to Mirabel’s animal shop. I stepped inside and Mirabel and her daughter Julia smiled happily in my direction.

“CHEALSEA! YOU’RE ADORIBLE AS EVER!” Julia yelled, still smiling and running over to give me a hug. I gave a happy look and told her why I was here. Mirabel gave me a large package of fodder and took only half of my bag gold to my surprise.

“Huh? Doesn’t fodder usually cost 20 G?” Mirabel smiled and told me that since we were friends, that she’d only charge me 10 like the pet food and chicken fed. I smiled, happily and told her thanks. As I turned from the desk, ready to leave I bumped into somebody. It was that animal transporter that had come and introduced himself in my house a day ago. I smiled at him, but he didn’t smile back; he just….frowned and glared at me under his hat.

“Hi?” I was sure I must have had the dumbest look I could at a time like that when I told him hello. I mentally kicked myself in my stomach.

“……Hi,” he stopped glaring at me and put a large box of tools down on the wooden floor.

“You’re Vaughn, right?” I tried my best to remember what he had told me about himself. He was an animal transporter from the city, and he only came to Sunny Island two days a week. He was about 20 years old and he lived alone.

“Yeah, hey can you do me a favor and grab that cage? It has a few chickens in it so be careful not to drop it.”

I did as Vaughn said, and gave him the cage. I peaked into the cage as he sat it down next to a box of animal medications. I giggled.

“They’re so cute!” I said, happily. I turned to look at him and I couldn’t believe what I saw. Accordingly to Julia, he never showed emotions, but he was smirking and pulling down his hat to cover his face.

“Yeah. I’m glad I have a job where I can work with them…” he walked out for a minute then came back in with a baby calf. My jaw fell nearly to the floor and I squealed and ran over to the adorable baby. I rubbed its head, gently and smiled at it. The calf let out a quiet moo and smiled back. I took a little fodder from my bag that I had bought and let the calf eat out of my hand. Its lips ticked my palm and I tried my best not to laugh in front of Vaughn. For some reason, I worried about how I acted or looked when I was around him. I never worried about those kinds of things; it was strange that I just began to worry about them now. Maybe I was starting to go crazy like my dad? Nah, he murdered my mom and was sent to jail for 8 years, there was no way I could be even close to being as physco as he was.

I opened the door ready to leave, but before I could Julia stopped me in my tracks when she told me to wait. She told me she had something for me in her room. She ran in and out of a small door way and came back holding a yellow circle. It looked like those prizes you could win if you got first place in the animal contests or cooking contests that they held there on the island’s meadow that was across the river.

“It’s a wonderful, these can make your tools easier to use and work better when you attach them to your tools.” She put the beautiful, coin-shaped object in my hand. I told her thank you and left. I went home and shipped some milk and cleaned my tools. Then I decided to go fishing down at the beach since I didn’t have anything for supper to cook, fish was my only option tonight I guess. I walked down to the beach to find Vaughn sitting there, on the docks. I walked over and sat beside him. I turned to say hello again since it had been a few hours since we had our last encounter but as I turned to look at him I noticed something on his face. Tears? Was he actually crying? I gave a sad look at him and went to put my hand on his shoulder so I could comfort him but before I could he slapped down my rist with his strong hand, I only had time to gasp.

“HEY! What was that for??” I asked, very peeved off. I was only trying to help him and in return I get my hand turned red by this guy who can’t get the courage to show his emotions to anyone.

“Don’t touch me.” He snarled at me and adjusted his hat so I couldn’t see any part of his face.

“Touchy.” I said and casting my fishing line into the ocean.

I swear, I must have sat there about 40 minutes before actually feeling a tug of the line and then I finally reeled in a…boot. I gave a wtf look at the thing and Vaughn smirked.

“Not very good at fishing are we?” He said in a tone that sounded like he was enjoying this.

I stood up with a pissed off look on my face. I put the fishing rod into my backpack and the boot as well; I’d just throw it anyway when I got home and go to the diner for dinner.

“Shut up…I’m not perfect you know.” I said and stomped away. I could tell Vaughn had a frown on his face as he watched me stomp away like a little kid who wasn’t getting her own way. He turned to look at the sunset and whispered “Why do I always have to be such a…” and the last word he said was a word I couldn’t repeat.
Just a story I decided to write about Vaughn and Chels. Nothing too special.
